The United States Air Force Academy Rodeo Team consists of 30 cadets with an intercollegiate competition team of 14 members. The team competes at ten rodeos each year as part of the Central Rocky Mountain Region of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Team members compete in 5 rodeo events including: Team Roping, Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, Bull Riding, and Bronc Riding.

Beyond competition, our club volunteers throughout the local rodeo and equine community. One of our biggest commitments is to the Remount Foundation, where we work with wounded warriors through equine therapy. Cadets have the rewarding opportunity to interact and socialize with wounded warriors through a common bond; horses. This enriching relationship aids these warriors in their recovery while enlightening our cadets on the sacrifices they could be called to make.  Our team also supports the Colorado State University Rodeo Team in hosting their annual intercollegiate rodeo as well as helping local ranchers with their cattle.

While the Academy is able to partially cover the travel costs for cadets, repeated budget cutbacks could cause the club to no longer compete in all 10 annual regional competitions.  With the competition team of 14 members, the team currently operates off of primarily cadet funds in order to maintain our competition status. Cadets pay for our own membership and entry fees (exceeding $900 annually), purchase our own competition uniforms, and maintain our horses. This puts a financial strain on the cadets, and is a potential detractor for someone who might be interested in participating in the sport.

The goal of this project is to raise at least $5,000 through the United States Air Force Academy Endowment, to cover travel expenses for the next season and offset the costs of competing that individual cadets incur in this sport.
