From the founding of the Air Force Academy “Flight of Sound” Drum and Bugle Corps in 1971 to its invitation to perform in Dublin, Ireland, in 2023, the group has been entertaining the Cadet Wing and people around the world for over 50 years. Always representing the Academy with integrity and honor, the Corps has performed on some of the biggest stages alongside elite company.
The U.S. Air Force Academy Drum and Bugle Corps’ mission is to represent the Academy via musical support of the Cadet Wing and Athletic Department while providing a positive image and improving esprit de corps by developing future Air Force officers.
Monies raised at this time will go toward travel expenses, such as to the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland, where the USAFA Drum and Bugle Corps have been invited to take part in February of 2023.
Monies raised over the travel expenses of the Ireland trip will go toward operational costs such as uniforms, instrument upkeep and new equipment purchases.
The Corps has represented the Academy at presidential inaugurations, the Thanksgiving Day, Tournament of Roses, and Mardi Gras Parades, Special Olympics Opening Ceremonies, as well as many athletic championship games. In addition, the Corps recently traveled to Aspen and Keystone Colorado ski resorts to perform at various functions while enjoying the skiing opportunities. The Corps travels thousands of miles each year performing at Academy home and away athletic events.
