Let's send the USAFA Women's Club Hockey Team to SINK Navy the weekend of October 21st!
USAFA Women’s Club Hockey was established in January 2018. During the first couple of years, the team competed against local women’s club teams. In the fall of 2021, the team joined the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) D1 club league. This highly competitive league includes teams from across the nation and concludes each season with a national tournament. Women’s hockey is growing in popularity nationwide, including at the Air Force Academy. This season the Academy team had over 50 women try out.
The team’s vision is to create an environment that builds competitive teams, develops leaders of character and continues to foster a family environment.
The team’s goals:
1 year: Gain experience in the ACHA D1 league while striving for a winning record.
5 years: Qualify for the ACHA D1 national tournament.
10 years: Turn this team into a NCAA Division 1 hockey program.
The program is currently recruiting women for the USAFA classes of 2027 and 2028. This is crucial not only to the team but to USAFA as a whole. The Academy’s goal is to recruit more female cadets, which can be helped by promoting programs offered to women.
Impact of Giving:
USAFA Women's Club Hockey is seeking $15,000 in support to continue growing the program and supporting cadet players. It's an exciting time to make your gift, as you will be a part of USAFA history in terms of strong recruitment and the potential for an additional NCAA DI team to take the ice!
