The U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Honor Guard is a prestigious cadet unit, featuring less than 2 percent of the Cadet Wing as its members. Steeped in tradition, the Cadet Honor Guard was founded in 1974 primarily to function as an exhibition drill unit. Since then, it has expanded its mission to perform such details as color guard, flag details, and funeral honors, with the intent of honoring past and present cadets, graduates and service members.
The USAFA Cadet Honor Guard is entering its 50th year of pursuing excellence, and they have set their eyes on dominating Army, Navy, Texas A&M, Norwich, and all others who choose to compete at three separate competitions:
Roughly 40 cadets will be in attendance at these events, competing in Open Ranks Inspections, Armed Exhibition Drill, Armed Regulation Drill, Color Guard, Relay Races, Weightlifting, Knowledge, and much more. USAFA Cadet Honor Guard teammates dedicate over 15 hours a week to pursuing excellence in military bearing, drill and ceremonies.
In order for the team to successfully dominate and showcase their skills against the competition, it needs your help at this time!
The USAFA Cadet Honor Guard also plans to perform in several Colorado Springs and Denver parades this fall; the Krewe of Tucks Parade during Mardi Gras in February; and the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington D.C, in March.
The purpose of these performances, parades, and competitions is to enhance the public perception of the United States Air Force Academy and spread awareness of what the institution is and the core values the USAFA Cadet Honor Guard embody of Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do.
